A person falls asleep on the shore and wakes up as a luminous algae. A scientist captures the algae and examines it under a microscope. In a monologue staged in a dimly lit laboratory, the blooming algae contemplates previous beliefs about its toxicity. Algebra is a fable about how the microscopic can influence the universal, shedding light on (or further complicating) the equation at hand.
